FRED ‘08 - Houston, we have liftoff!
Posted on | June 6, 2007 |
Fred Thompson has formed an exploratory committee to test the feasibility of a 2008 Presidential bid! It’s about time we Republicans have a candidate that we can be excited about.

Hi !!! “Wisdom World” huh ? I wonder if you Republican types will ever own up to your party’s absolutely horrendous decisionmaking and deception over the course of the Bush administration. Fred Thompson is not your solution my friend. You need to be publicly ashamed of your support of Bush, and owning up to your mistakes. You have done this country a great disservice. You have promoted the terrorist assassins to the highest offices in Iraq and Iran as a consequence. I feel that you, who supported Bush, must be convinced that it is no longer ethical to sleep at night with the blood of thousands of our military sons and daughters in cold graves for a pointless, negative-impact military adventure.
You seem like a nice person; I am not mad at you specifically. But it is absolutely outrageous to hear no apologies for the support you have given Bush and Cheney. The blood of our brothers and sisters in combat is on your hands; you gave the axe to the murderer. Until you own up for your sins and ignorance, I pity you and you will be held accountable by those of us who did not buy Bush’s lies for an instant.

Wow, scathing. Sorry us ‘Republican Types’ have disappointed you enlightened folks so much. It’s too bad you are still living with blinders on though. You know, I was in D.C. in 2001 for President Bush’s inauguration, and you ‘Socialist Types’ were lining the streets protesting his policies, and his presidency, and he wasn’t even president yet, and didn’t have any policies in place yet.
It wouldn’t matter if the economy was one of the strongest in history (oh wait, it is,) or if the unemployment rate is one of lowest in history (oh wait, it is,) or if violent crime rates were down (oh yeah, they are.) No matter what policies President Bush had instituted, whiney left wing fanatics like you would be protesting him because he doesn’t agree with your warped view of the world.
We are in this war as a result of 50+ years of failed foreign policy and 8 years of President Clinton’s systematic disembowelment of our nations intelligence agencies.
If you really want to see this country get better, stop bitching about the President, and start supporting him. Stop trying to give away the national treasury, stop trying to let the UN rule country, quit letting green socialism rule your brain, and WAKE THE HELL UP.

Hi Wisdom ! I am really happy about your reply, and I appreciate your civility. I honestly am trying to get under the hood of your psychotic party. Hagel and others who have peeled themselves away from Bush have opened my eyes that not all Republicans are poisonous traitors. It is very satisfying to see the scales peeling from the
Calling me a socialist won’t work, I’m a Duke MBA who has started two profitable enterprises and just incorporated my third company. Trust me, I make a lot more than you do
I also began my entrepreneurial career under the Clinton era that you’d really love to deride. The people who work for me live in North Carolina, and I assure you there are no other jobs for them anywhere within miles. Your “Bush” has destroyed my state. Not to mention killing the brother of one of my employees in a godforsaken illegal war
The policies of the Bush junta have done zero for the entrepreneur, and I have the tax records to prove it. No, the Evil Office has destroyed the economy - holding Bush blameless for gas prices is sheer comedy! - and only the Free Internet and other entrepreneurial technology ventures hold this economy back from utter despair. He’s defended every legacy industry, and his feeble efforts will not work; we are the new breed, and you, wisdom, as a blogger, are on our side (esp. since the MSM is on theirs).
If you really want to see this country get better, try starting a company and providing some jobs instead of promoting a fake political solution that will continue killing US soldiers for no purpose. FACE IT, FRIEND - YOU AND YOURS HAVE *LOST ANOTHER WAR*. The US Military will never be the same as a result. I guess it’s good that you stand by your beliefs. But if you are so excited that you’ve conquered Iraq, it would be a patriotic thing for you to move there.

ps: i really do appreciate the dialogue by the way.
I was in Philadelphia during the 2000 Bush nomination, and I mocked the “free mumia” folks to the point of fisticuffs. However, you are living in the past, mister wisdom. Incredibly normal and committed Americans have known Bush as the cocaine-snorting Bohemian Grove visiting autistic child since he first oozed onto the body politic. It is people like me you can count on debating from now on, not the mumia-ites. It is advisable therefore that you reconsider any name-dropping tactics; once again, I want to express my respect for you as a self-publisher and

sorry about the incomplete sentences, i hit submit a bit early !
one last point - this dialogue about the future of our country is significant and i hope you feel the same way; if either of us goes overboard with a statement, we should cut each other some slack and not impute personal affront. thanks.

If you read my about page, you would see that I do run a family business that usually employs 15-20 people. I say usually because Wyoming’s economy is so good that there is virtually no available labor pool. In Sweetwater County, where my business is, there is a 2.3% unemployment rate. Anyone here who can’t get a job is either a crystal addict, a thief, or just doesn’t want to work.
I personally see hundreds of people go to work every morning doing jobs that pay way more than the national average wage, all provided by those “legacy” industries that you decry.
In this economy that has been “destroyed” by the “evil office” I have seen at least a dozen not so highly educated (not one Duke MBA among them) but highly motivated and very hard working young men and women become millionaires.
I believe the only thing that I said about Clinton is that he disemboweled our intelligence agencies. I didn’t say anything about his economic policies. I will say this however — under his policies, I employed half the number of people (couldn’t afford to hire more), had people begging me for minimum wage jobs, and had hardly any disposable income after paying the bills and taxes. After six and a half years of Bush, people laugh at me if I offer them twice the minimum wage, I employ almost every person that I can talk into working for me, and could probably retire if I could hire enough trustworthy people to run my business without me (which will never happen).
Gas prices? Bush’s fault? hah! If you have an MBA then you must have taken an economics class. Economic principles dictate gas prices, not Presidents. Yes, outside influences play a part, some more than others. Things like the lack of a new modern refinery being built in the last 35 years probably play a much bigger role in the increased price of fuel than Dick Cheney’s ties to Halliburton. It could also be this country’s high demand for gas. We are paying more for fuel than ever yet we are driving more than ever anyway.
All economic indicators point to the US having one of the strongest economies in our history, yet the MSM that you claim belongs to us “republican types” constantly touts its demise. Do you remember what the overriding catch phrase of the 2000 elections were? “It’s about the economy, stupid!” While Clintons policies made starting tech firms a national phenomenon, it was Bush’s policies that allowed the ones that survived the crash to thrive, and for national unemployment rates to reach such lows.
Is it perfect? No. Is it great for everyone? No. But it is working whether you want to admit it or not.
As for your statements on the war in Iraq, President Bush didn’t go there alone. The UN DID authorized forceful entry into the country as a result of Hussein’s refusal to comply with their weapons inspection program, even if they waffled (again) when it came time to do it. They were way to busy getting rich on the oil for food programs that they so charitably oversaw. Congress approved overwhelmingly, with yes votes from every presidential frontrunner that was in congress at the time. If this is Bush and Cheney’s war, it is their war too.
As for losing the war, we didn’t. You did. The troops have done their jobs. They’ve won every battle that they have been faced with over there. The only one they can’t win is the one here at home. The press and the far left derided the war long and hard enough until the middle followed and the candidates up for re-election started folding like chairs.
As for imputing personal affronts and name dropping, you have painted me as nothing short of an idiotic war criminal worse than Hitler himself, yet you seem skiddish at my retort. That’s OK, I’ll keep the kid gloves on.
